ASLAN Solutions has extensive experience in training of Microsoft Office products and other software. Computer training is an essential tool for using software both effectively and efficiently. Although many users are self-taught, this alone is not enough to generate best-use practices or to take advantage of the shortcuts and helps built into software products.
We recommend classes of no more than 8 students. More students means more questions and more variety of experience, and therefore less quality training time. It can be helpful to have the students divide themselves by their perceived expertise.
Computer training should be given in a duration that allows the students to learn and to incorporate that learning into their everyday work environment. (Training for 8 hours straight is neither efficient nor effective.) We recommend 2-3 hours of training per session. We have often had clients that preferred to train over the lunch hour; this allows for more training time without feeling overworked. We call these sessions “Lunch and Learns”!
We usually assign some “homework” for students: a chance for them to apply what they have learned during this session to their own workspace. Therefore, it’s important that each student have time in between classes to incorporate their new expertise. We also don’t want to frustrate bosses and co-workers by having their colleagues gone too long or too often.
ASLAN Solutions has more than 15 years of computer training experience, both one-on-one and in classroom settings. Adult students thrive when given tools to help make their work easier, faster, and more efficient. All of our computer training is geared towards this goal. The examples and homework are based in real usage. We like to survey students in advance to tell us where they need help and where they would like to grow. Then, the curriculum is personalized to meet those needs.
